The See-Through Laptop

Lenovo unveiled its 17.3” concept laptop, ThinkBook Transparent. It has a see-through screen and a borderless keyboard area, which will prompt you to think if it was made for Commander James Bond himself. Its unique MicroLED display adds 55% transparency as the screen lights up with 1000 nit brightness and 720p resolution.

A Phone That’s Also a…Bracelet!

A phone can be many things, an alarm clock, a camera or a torchlight. A bracelet is not one of the things that comes to mind. But Motorola’s new concept phone can be bent around your wrist like a bracelet. Ready to be pulled out, bent back to shape and become a regular mobile phone.

Beauty Lies in the Eye of the Beholder

Xpanceo is a deep tech company specialising in smart contact lenses, and they unveiled their new concept in Barcelona. Its augmented reality contact lenses come with an in-built holographic display. If released in the market, they can quite easily replace the AR headsets, by bringing AR vision right into our eyeballs.

Eye AI

Not as up close and personal as a contact lens, but Oppo’s Air Glass 3 are spectacles with generative AI. The AI voice assistant can be activated by tapping the side of the eyewear, while it also supports touch interaction, and a host of control features including playing music, phone calls, colour image browsing, and so on.

Flick Time

Kalki 2898 AD – As the name suggests, this futuristic sci-fi film is about Lord Vishnu’s final incarnation. This Nag Ashwin movie stars box office legend Amitabh Bachchan, along with Prabhas and Dipika Padukone. Emergency – Produced and directed by Kangana Ranaut, Emergency chronicles the 1975 emergency featuring herself as Mrs Indira Gandhi. The movie is slated for a mid-June release.
Back to Black – Chronicling the life of the short-lived but influential British singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse, Marisa Abela is playing the titular character. The movie opens in May 2024 and was directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes – The Apes franchise sees a directorial switch in this latest movie, with Wes Ball orchestrating the proceedings. It will be interesting to see if Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes achieves the dizzying success of Andy Serkis’s movies.
